Rita is a Spanish interdisciplinary artist. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca and the University of Vigo, and completed her training with a Master’s degree in Photography at BlankPaper School in Madrid, as well as studies in Design at LCI and Elisava in Barcelona.
Throughout her career, she has participated in various contemporary art events such as Fiebre Photobook Fair, Feria de Libros Mutantes at La Casa Encendida, the Auditorio de Galicia Award, Encontros da Imagem in Braga, and EAN in Santiago de Compostela, among others. She has also published several photography and illustration books. Notable among them are “Contrahistorias de Galicia”, awarded the Follas Novas Prize for Best Illustrated Book (2021), and her photobook “El Gran Sol”, which received the Iridiscente Award, granted by a jury composed of Manuel Mata, Miss Beige, Tono Arias, and Sabina Urraca, with a prologue by Fosi Vegue.
She currently lives in Morocco, where she co-founded SANIA with artist Amine Asselman, an art and ceramic décor brand that was a finalist for the Design Doha Prize 2025. Her work is currently represented by MCC Gallery in Marrakech.
The concerns that have shaped her practice since youth are deeply rooted in the environments she inhabits. Through ceramics, photography, and design, her work reflects on landscape and architecture as elements of identity, the passage of time, memory, and, in a symbolic way, those everyday gestures that give life a special value.
